I was sent to Estella as a teenager with C-PTSD due to abuse in my family and being the identified patient in the family system. Instead of helping me, she focused on invalidated my experience and emotions and reinforced the idea that I, as the child, was responsible for my family's problems and treatment of me. was being bullied, buying me cookies and popcorn rather than providing a professional therapy session, and telling me to read the book "7 Habits of Effective Teens" rather than addressing the problem of the emotional and physical abuse that was happening at home.
